Privacy Policy
Contruva Inc. ("Contruva," "we," "us," or "our") provides a business management platform built for contractors and home-service businesses — including customer relationship management, quoting, scheduling, invoicing, marketing, review management, and customer communication tools (the "Service") — along with our public website at contruva.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you. By visiting the Site, joining our waitlist, or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to visitors of contruva.com, to businesses and individuals who register for or use the Contruva platform at app.contruva.com ("Users"), and to the customers and contacts of those businesses whose information a User enters into the Service ("End Customers"). Where a User submits End Customer information to the Service, Contruva acts as a service provider processing that data on the User's behalf and at their direction; the User remains responsible for the accuracy and lawful collection of that data. Questions about End Customer data should be directed first to the relevant contractor business.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Contact and waitlist form submissions, including name, company name, email address, phone number, trade or industry, and message content.
- Account registration details, including name, business name, email address, password, phone number, and billing address.
- Payment information, which is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor; Contruva does not store full card numbers.
- Business and customer data you enter into the Service, such as your own customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, job and quote details, photos, notes, invoices, and communication history.
- Support requests and other communications you send us by email, chat, or phone.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data, such as pages viewed, features used, click activity, session duration, and referring URLs.
- Device and log data, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and error logs.
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).
Information from third parties: we may receive information from integrated tools that a User or Contruva connects to the Service (for example, payment processors, calendars, email or SMS providers, and review platforms), and from publicly available business listings used to help set up a new account.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, secure, and maintain the Site and the Service.
- To create and manage accounts, and to process subscriptions and billing.
- To send transactional communications, including confirmations, receipts, service notices, and security alerts.
- To send marketing communications about Contruva, which you may opt out of at any time.
- To enable Users to communicate with their own End Customers — for example, sending quotes, appointment reminders, invoices, and review requests by email or SMS through the Service.
- To improve, personalize, and develop the Site and Service, including through usage analytics.
- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms and Conditions.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: vendors who perform hosting, database, analytics, email and SMS delivery, payment processing, and customer support functions on our behalf, bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- Between a User and their End Customers: information a User enters into the Service is accessible to that User's authorized team members and is used to communicate with the relevant End Customer, at the User's direction.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of some or all of our assets.
- Legal requirements: to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Contruva, our users, or others.
- With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you and with your agreement.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site and Service use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality, to remember preferences, to measure usage through analytics tools, and, where used, for marketing and retargeting purposes. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may limit functionality of the Site or Service.
6. SMS, Email, and Marketing Communications
The Service allows Users to send appointment reminders, quotes, invoices, and review requests to their End Customers by SMS and email. Users are solely responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from their End Customers before sending such messages, and for complying with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CAN-SPAM Act, and other applicable communications laws. Recipients may opt out of messages sent through the Service by following the unsubscribe or "STOP" instructions included in each message. Marketing emails sent by Contruva about our own Service include an unsubscribe link.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Account and business data is generally retained for the duration of a subscription plus a reasonable period afterward, after which it is deleted or anonymized unless a longer retention period is required by law.
8. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and employee confidentiality obligations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information you provide.
9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, request a copy of your data, or opt out of marketing communications. This includes rights available to Canadian residents under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law, to residents of the EU/UK/EEA under GDPR where applicable, and to California residents under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. If your information was entered into the Service by a contractor business as their End Customer, please also contact that business directly, as they control that data; we will assist them as needed to respond to your request.
10. International Data Transfers
Contruva is based in Canada. Our service providers may process or store information in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Where information is transferred internationally, we take steps intended to ensure it continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.
11. Children's Privacy
The Site and Service are intended for business use by adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have done so, we will take steps to delete it.
12. Third-Party Links and Integrations
The Site and Service may link to, or integrate with, third-party websites and services, such as payment processors, mapping tools, and review platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies separately.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through additional notice. Your continued use of the Site or Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
