The best contractorsoftware in Canadafor 2026.

Most contractor software is priced in US dollars and built for US taxes. Here are six options Canadian trades actually use, what they cost, and what to check before you pay in USD.

The best contractor software in Canada depends on your crew size, but for most small Canadian trades businesses the shortlist is Contruva, Jobber, Joist, Housecall Pro, Tradify and, for large shops, ServiceTitan. Contruva is the only one of the six that lists its price in Canadian dollars. Jobber and Joist are Canadian companies too.

Whatever you choose, check three things a US-first comparison won’t: what currency you’ll be billed in, whether quotes and invoices handle GST/HST (and PST where it applies) properly, and who picks up when you call support. All prices below were checked on each company’s own site in November 2026.

What Canadian contractors should check

  • Currency. A price in USD moves every month with the exchange rate, and your card may add a foreign transaction fee. Know which you’re paying.
  • Sales tax on quotes and invoices. Depending on your province you may be charging HST, or GST plus PST, and some jobs mix taxable and exempt items. Test a real quote in the trial before you commit. Our guide to whether contractors charge HST on materials covers the basics.
  • Support hours and location. A support team in your time zone matters when an invoice won’t send at 7 a.m.
  • Accounting. Most job software isn’t accounting software. Check how it fits with your bookkeeping and your accountant.

Provinces differ. Ontario and the Atlantic provinces use a single HST, while others charge GST with a separate provincial tax, and Quebec has its own QST. If you work across a provincial border, make sure the software lets you pick the right tax per customer or per job instead of one fixed rate for everything. That one check saves a lot of credit notes later.

This isn’t tax advice. For your GST/HST obligations, check with the Canada Revenue Agency or your accountant.

1. Contruva

Who it suits: owner-operators and small to mid-size crews who want the phone answered, the website and marketing handled, and quotes, jobs and invoices in one place.

Price: one plan, $249.99 CAD a month, with no per-seat pricing and a 7-day free trial (no credit card). Because it’s billed in Canadian dollars, the price you see is the price you pay, before tax.

Contruva is based in Toronto, and when you call, a real person picks up. Quotes show the sales tax line, such as HST, under the subtotal, customers sign and pay a deposit on their phone, and payments run through Stripe with no extra Contruva fee on top of standard card processing. The AI receptionist answers calls in your business name and books real open slots, and every text, email, website chat and Facebook or Instagram message lands in one inbox. It also builds your website and adds SEO pages every week.

  • ✓ Priced in CAD with no per-seat fees
  • ✓ Canadian company with phone support
  • ✓ Receptionist, website and marketing included
  • ✕ Not accounting software, so you still keep your bookkeeping tool
  • ✕ One plan only, with no cheaper invoicing-only tier

2. Jobber

Who it suits: home service businesses that want a mature, widely used job app.

Price: Jobber is headquartered in Edmonton, but its Canadian pricing page states “All prices in USD”. Core is $49 USD a month for one user with no commitment; Connect starts at $139, Grow at $199 and Plus at $499 (5 users), with cheaper rates on a one-year commitment or annual billing. Extra users are $29 USD a month, and AI Receptionist ($29), Pipeline ($49) and Marketing Suite ($99) are add-ons on every plan below Plus.

Jobber’s community forum has threads on setting up GST and PST as separate tax groups on line items. Check it on your own quotes during the 14-day trial.

  • ✓ Canadian company with a long track record
  • ✓ QuickBooks Online sync from the Connect plan
  • ✕ Billed in USD
  • ✕ Per-user fees and add-ons raise the total as you grow

3. Joist

Who it suits: solo renovators and handymen who mostly need fast estimates and invoices from a phone.

Price: Joist lists Basics from about $10 a month, Pro at $17 and Elite at $32 on monthly billing, and a newer Run plan with scheduling at $100 a month (with promotional discounts on annual billing). An AI Receptionist add-on starts at $49 a month. The pricing page uses “$” without naming a currency. There’s no longer a free plan; you get a 14-day trial instead.

Joist is headquartered in Toronto and is owned by EverCommerce. It says its reports include sales tax summaries.

  • ✓ Very low starting price
  • ✓ Canadian headquarters
  • ✕ Basics is limited to 5 documents a month
  • ✕ Scheduling only on the Run plan

4. Housecall Pro

Who it suits: residential service companies, like HVAC, plumbing and cleaning, that want booking, dispatch and financing tools.

Price (USD): Basic is $79 a month on monthly billing ($59 on annual) for 1 user, Essentials $189 ($149) for 5 users, and Max $329 ($299) for 8 users, with extra users at $35. No long-term contract and a 14-day trial.

It’s available to Canadian businesses, but it’s a US company and its site is US-first. Before you sign, confirm that the features you need, such as consumer financing and integrations, are offered in Canada.

  • ✓ Published prices, no long-term contract
  • ✓ Strong residential service workflow
  • ✕ Billed in USD
  • ✕ Route optimization and service plans need the Max plan

5. Tradify

Who it suits: small trade crews (electrical, plumbing, building) who want simple job tracking, timesheets, quotes and invoices.

Price: Tradify’s pricing page showed USD when we checked: Lite $47, Pro $51 and Plus $61 per user per month, with a 14-day free trial. It syncs with Xero and QuickBooks Online.

  • ✓ Easy to learn
  • ✓ Accounting sync on every plan
  • ✕ Per-user pricing
  • ✕ No built-in call answering or marketing

6. ServiceTitan

Who it suits: large HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies with many trucks, a dispatcher and an office team.

Price: not published. ServiceTitan quotes per technician, and its annual report says contract terms typically run 12 to 36 months. Third-party estimates put it in the hundreds of US dollars per technician per month, plus onboarding. If you’re that size, it’s worth a demo for its reporting, memberships and commission tools. See our ServiceTitan pricing breakdown.

The USD problem, worked out

Paying in US dollars isn’t a deal-breaker, but it should be in your math. Here’s an illustrative example with round numbers.

Worked example

A tool listed at $199 USD a month, at an exchange rate of 1.38, costs about $275 CAD before any foreign transaction fee. If your card adds 2.5%, that’s about $282 CAD. If the dollar moves to 1.42, the same plan is about $290 CAD, before fees. Check today’s rate and your card terms.

Add per-user fees and add-ons on top, and a USD plan that looks cheaper on the website can end up close to or above a flat CAD plan. Line them up properly:

1
Count your users.

Everyone who needs a login, including the office and seasonal crew.

2
List the add-ons.

Call answering, marketing, website, extra users. Price each one.

3
Convert to CAD.

Use today’s rate plus your card’s foreign transaction fee.

4
Test your taxes.

Build a real quote with HST or GST and PST in the trial and check it’s right.
