The best ServiceTitan alternatives for small business are tools that publish their price, run on a phone, and don’t need months of implementation: Contruva, Jobber, Housecall Pro, Service Fusion, Tradify and Workiz. Each one covers quoting, scheduling, invoicing and payments for a fraction of the setup work.
Which one fits depends on your crew size and what you’re trying to fix. If the problem is missed calls and slow follow-up, pick a tool that answers the phone for you. If it’s paperwork, pick the simplest job-to-invoice flow. Below is what each one costs (checked November 2026), who it suits, and where it falls short.
Why small businesses look past ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan is a serious platform. It’s also built around a different kind of company than most small contractors run. A few things stand out when you research it:
- No published price. ServiceTitan’s pricing page lists three packages (Starter, Essentials and The Works) with a “Request Pricing” button instead of a number. It says its pricing is per technician.
- Big-company sizing. In its latest annual report (fiscal year ended January 31, 2026), ServiceTitan counts about 10,800 “Active Customers”, which it defines as customers with over $10,000 of annualized billings. That’s the floor it measures its business by.
- Lots of extra modules. The pricing page lists separate “Pro” products, including AI Virtual Agent, Marketing Pro, Contact Center Pro, Pricebook Pro, Fleet Pro, Scheduling Pro and Dispatch Pro, with no prices shown.
- Longer commitments. ServiceTitan’s annual report says contract terms typically range from 12 to 36 months and renew automatically unless cancelled in advance, and onboarding and training are invoiced separately at the start.
- Setup takes work. On Capterra and G2, the most common complaint themes we saw were a steep learning curve, the cost of the add-on modules, and frustration with contract terms when trying to cancel.
None of that makes ServiceTitan bad. It makes it a big-team tool. For a deeper look at the numbers, read our ServiceTitan pricing breakdown.

When ServiceTitan is still the right call
Be honest about your size. If you run a large HVAC, plumbing or electrical operation with many trucks, a dispatcher or call centre, membership programs, technician commissions and detailed reporting, ServiceTitan is built for exactly that, and its breadth is the reason people pay for it. Big shops with a dedicated office team can absorb the setup and get value from all those modules.
If you’re a crew of one to fifteen and the owner still does the quoting, you’ll probably pay for a lot you never use.
How to choose
Run a short, real test instead of comparing feature lists for weeks.
Missed calls, slow quotes, unpaid invoices or no-show crews. Pick the tool that fixes your biggest one.
Count every person who needs a login and every add-on you’d need. Per-user and add-on fees change the order fast.
Use the free trial on live work: quote, schedule, invoice and get paid at least once.
Ask about contract length and cancellation before you sign anything. Month-to-month is the safe default.
A five-person crew on per-user software at $51 a seat pays $255 a month before add-ons. Add an answering service and a website tool and the total climbs fast. One flat plan is easier to budget.
If your crew gets more work than it can answer, start with the phone. Read speed to lead for contractors, then see how the Contruva AI receptionist handles it. One plan covers everything, free for 7 days.
